The winner of the music prize „Karneval der Kulturen Berlin 2007“ merges African poetry with modern AfroBeatz in various languages.
Djatou Touré is the daughter of the MANDINGE people who believe in the goddesses of the earth, trees and nature. She is gifted with a beautiful clear, bluesy, rocking voice, full of power. She has lived in Berlin since 1997 and performs traditional West African singing, jazz improvisations and her own compositions in French, English and the native language Bambara. She graduated from the largest art academy in Ivory Coast "Ecole Nationale des Arts - ENA" and was a member of the Syndicat National des Artistes Musiciens de Cote d‘Ivoire, Abidjan and has given concerts at festivals in Europe and Uzbekistan.
